Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering was established in the year 1995 initially with B. Tech programme having intake of 60 students. In 2001, M. Tech programme in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering with an intake of 18 students was introduced. From academic year 2008-2009, intake of B. Tech. was increased to 120 students.
The focus of the department is to produce graduates & post graduates with strong fundamentals in electronics and communication domain. The department has started Ph.D programme from the academic year 2003, presently 20 research scholars are working in the research area of signal processing, computer network and microwave communication. The curriculum design is a perfect blend of Electronics, Communication and Computing Technologies. The budding graduates from this discipline have very good job opportunities in VLSI technologies, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Radio Frequency (RF) Communication, Mobile communications and in Software Engineering. This department has got NBA accreditation for B.Tech. course for three years w.e.f. from March 2007.
The department has received handful amount of funding from AICTE, UGC, State Government for various research projects. Department has state-of-the-art laboratories in various areas of Electronics & Communication Engineering.
The faculty members are having strong background of research in the current issues of the discipline. The department has its own library with as many 200 different books available as a ready reference for the students. Department has a very good rapport in R & D. The faculty members and students have published around 250 papers in International Journals, national and international conferences organized in India & abroad. Department has organized many workshops and short term training programmes sponsored by AICTE, ISTE, TEQIP, IETE with the help of eminent personalities from reputed academic and research institutes like IITs and SAMEER. Also department regularly deputes faculty for attending FDP, CEP and Pedagogical Training.
